The driver of a car that collided with a Shop Rite tractor-trailer on an Elizabeth road overnight was rushed to the hospital suffering severe burns.
Details regarding the crash remain under investigation, but according to preliminary reports, the violent accident occurred in the 500 block of Dowd Avenue shortly before 2:15 a.m. where emergency responders rushed to the scene to assist.
Upon their arrival, rescue crews found the car and the truck fully engulfed in flames.
The injured driver of the car was airlifted to Saint Barnabas Burn Center in Livingston suffering severe burns.
The official cause of the crash is under investigation by The Elizabeth Police Department.
