Authorities announced the arrested of Eliasel Baez, 36, of Newark, who was wanted for a shooting that occurred over the weekend.
According to police, Sunday at approximately 1:02 a.m., Newark Police responded to Wright Street near Frelinghuysen Avenue for a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found a male victim who was reportedly shot at following a fight. The unidentified victim was not injured as a result of this incident, police added.
Detectives investigating the shooting developed sufficient evidence to identify Eliasel Baez as a suspect in this shooting and obtained a warrant for his arrest on charges of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
Police arrested Baez yesterday without incident.
These charges are merely accusations. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
