The Mercer County Narcotics Task Force concluded an investigation last week with the seizure of $20,000 in synthetic marijuana, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported.
Onofri stated that his office received information from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations indicating that a mail parcel containing AMB-FUBINACA, an indazole-based synthetic cannabinoid, arrived at JFK airport. The parcel was shipped from China and due to be delivered to 49-year-old William Minor in Trenton.
A search warrant was obtained for the package and last Thursday, it was delivered to the address. After the package was accepted, members of the Trenton Police SWAT Team executed the search warrant. Documents and another parcel box with William Minor’s name listed were found. Minor was not home during the delivery and warrants were issued for his arrest.
Officers with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations - Cherry Hill Field Office, and the Hamilton and Trenton police, under the command of the prosecutor’s Special Investigations Unit, assisted with the investigation.
Prosecutor’s Sergeant Brian Kiely stated the package contained a kilogram of synthetic marijuana, valued at approximately $20,000.
Police charged Minor with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute, possession of a controlled dangerous substance of more than one ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
