Trenton Man Indicted for Murder

Trenton

Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported that a Mercer County grand jury returned a four-count indictment yesterday charging a Trenton man with a June 2017 murder.

Mercer County grand jury yesterday indicted Leroy Tutt, 31, of Sandford Street, on charges of first-degree murder, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and second-degree certain persons not to have weapons. Tutt remains in the Mercer County Correction Center.

Trenton police were dispatched to Sandford Street at approximately 1:45 p.m. on June 30th on a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, first responders located Nabate Washingon, 19, lying in the street between two vehicles. He was bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested Tutt on August 5th following an investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force. First Assistant Prosecutor Doris M. Galuchie presented the case to the grand jury.

Despite having been indicted, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
