David T. Wirth, 82, of Long Beach Township was arrested yesterday and charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly having sexual contact with a fifteen-year-old boy, authorities announced today.
On August 5, Long Beach Township Police Department along with Ocean County Prosecutor’s Det. Jason Steele arrested Wirth after a 15-year-old boy reported to police that Wirth touched his genital area three times and took the victim’s hand placing it onto the suspect’s genitals.
The victim immediately reported the incident to nearby adults who contacted police.
Wirth was located at his Bay View Terrace residence and taken into custody.
Ocean County Senior Assistant Prosecutor Terry Linardakis approved the charges and Judge James M. Blaney J.S.C. set bail at $50,000 with no 10% option.
Nicole’s Law was applied mandating no contact with the victim. Wirth is presently lodged in Ocean County Jail in lieu of bail.
