Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced that a 25-year-old Riverton man who was arrested last year for sexually assaulting a teenage girl was indicted by a Burlington County Grand Jury.
According to authorities, Tyler J. Chrupcala, of the 200 block of Elm Avenue, was indicted on four counts of Sexual Assault (Second Degree) and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Third Degree).
The indictment was returned October 24 and signed by Prosecutor Coffina. An arraignment will be scheduled soon in Superior Court.
The offense occurred at a residence in Riverton in November 2016. Chrupcala was arrested following an investigation that was initiated when the victim contacted police. At the time of his arrest, Chrupcala was employed as a police officer with the Camden County Police Department.
Details of the crime, along with the victim’s name, age and the location of the offense, are being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
An indictment is merely an accusation. Defendants are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty.
