Ambrose is seeking the public’s help in positively identifying two alleged thieves who are wanted for stealing a former police car on Saturday.
According to Newark Police officials, at approximately 12:15 a.m., a former police car, an unmarked 2016 Silver Ford Taurus, was reported stolen from State Auto Surplus located at 833 Broadway.
Police said the victim reported that the suspects test drove another car in the lot and as they were leaving, one of the men entered the Taurus and sped away.
Police said the suspect was last seen driving south on Broadway.
According to police, during the theft, , the car was not running, but the keys were left in the ignition.
Detectives have identified the two men and are in the process are obtaining a theft warrant for their arrest.
