Police in Newark issued an alert for surrounding municipalities to be on the lookout for a 2013 BMW X5 SUV with a reported NJ license plate number "R17-JDC" that was reportedly carjacked from a neighborhood in the city's South Ward.
According to preliminary reports, two male suspects approached the victim in the 300 block of Lyons Avenue at around midnight and activated mace before taking the victim's vehicle.
The suspects sped away from the scene and were last observed on Leslie Street reports said.
The victim did not suffer life-threatening injuries according to reports.
