Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of Phillip Cerone, 27, of Maywood, on charges of Sexual Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
According to authorities, on October 11th, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that a juvenile female was sexually assaulted by Cerone, who works as a teacher’s aide.
As a result of the investigation, Cerone was arrested on Thursday in Maywood and charged with one count of Sexual Assault, one count of Endangering the Welfare of a child, one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
A judge order Cerone to be detained in the Bergen County Jail and is scheduled to appear in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court for a first appearance on Friday, October 13, at 1:30 p.m.
Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
