The Mercer County Narcotics Task Force concluded a month-long investigation on Tuesday with one arrest and the seizure of $13,480 in drugs, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported.
According to authorities, on October 10th, at approximately 2 p.m., officers executed search warrants at the Beatty Street home of 26-year-old Jose Santiago AKA King Silence.
Upon arrival, Santiago was detained without incident and a search of the residence led to the seizure of 574 OxyContin, a half-pound of marijuana and $262 in cash. The approximate street value of the seized narcotics is $11,480 for the OxyContin and $2,000 for the marijuana.
Police subsequently charged Santiago with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with the intent to distribute, possession with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, possession with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a park, possession of marijuana over 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released pending further court proceedings.
Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
