A juvenile found inside a Newark charter school with a gun had police place the teen in custody earlier today.
The incident happened at the M.E.T.S Charter School located directly across the street from Newark City Hall -909 Broad Street- earlier this afternoon sending police to the scene where officers found the juvenile then placed him under arrest.
The multi-story building that accommodate students from The M.E.T.S -on the top floor- was placed on lockdown status until police declared the building safe to resume regular school activity.
It is not clear why the boy brought the weapon to the school.
The Newark Police Department is handling the investigation.
There were no injuries reported.
