The Mercer County Narcotics Task Force concluded a three-week investigation last Wednesday with two arrests, and the seizure of seven bricks of heroin and a handgun, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported.
Police said on Wednesday, September 27th, at approximately 3:45 p.m., officers with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Hamilton and Trenton police, under the command of the prosecutor’s Special Investigations Unit, executed multiple search warrants in the city of Trenton.
Police detained, thtarget of the investigation, Mr. Donte Abdullah, at his residence in the first block of South Logan Avenue while entering his car.
A search of the blue Jeep Cherokee revealed seven bricks of heroin police said.
A search of a residence in the first block of Hollywood Avenue, utilized by Abdullah as part of his drug distribution network, revealed a Glock 9 mm handgun and a 50-round drum magazine loaded with 37 rounds of ammunition.
Prosecutor’s Sergeant Brian Kiely stated the seized drugs have an approximate street value of $1,400.
Police charged Abdullah, 27, with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with the intent to distribute then released him pending further court proceedings.
Police also charged Mr. Jaquay Jackson, 32, with certain persons not to possess a firearm, unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a high-capacity magazine.
Police said his charges relate to the search of the Hollywood Avenue home.
Jackson turned himself into task force officers on September 28.
Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
