Police Arrest Newark Man Wanted for Store Armed Robbery

Authorities announced the arrest of Jah’Lil Banks, also known as Kasib Jones, 23, of Newark, who was wanted in connection with a business robbery that occurred on May 18th.

According to police, at approximately 12:40 p.m., officers responded to La Mina De Oro Grocery, located at 51 Oriental Street, on a robbery call.

Police said three armed male suspects entered the store and took money from the cash register.

Detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify Banks, a.k.a. Jones, as a suspect along with two other men in connection with this robbery and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Banks was arrested last night after police observed him at Franklin Avenue and Anthony Street in possession of 23 glassine envelopes of heroin, 31 vials of cocaine and $170.00 in suspected proceeds from narcotics sales.

Banks was charged with Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Contempt of Court and CDS Possession.

These charges are merely accusations. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
