Reports of a Shots Spotter activation that alerted police of a possible shooting had offices in the area of Gould Avenue and South 11th Street a.m. checking for a crime scene.
East Orange Police reportedly checked their side of the border, but neither of the law enforcement departments located shell casings.
In a separate incident, police in Newark's South Ward responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the area of Avon and Farley avenues before 1:30 a.m. where arriving units canvassed the area and found several shell casings.
A search of the area for injured victim came back negative. A gray vehicle**(possibly a Nissan Sentra)** was observed speeding away from the scene.
The motive for the Avon Avenue shooting is under investigation.
