There were no injuries reported in a fire that destroyed a house in Plainfield this evening.

Firefighters were called to the 400 block of West 2nd Street before 4:20 p.m. where upon their arrival they observed heavy fire ripping through the two-story unoccupied house.

Crews surrounded and drowned the exterior of the house with water in an attempt to beat down stubborn flames and stop extensions to neighboring homes.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
