A brazen armed carjacking that occurred in the Newark's South Ward had the suspects pistol whip the victim then take a vehicle earlier this afternoon.
Police were called to the teens block of Johnson Avenue before noon to take a report of a carjacking. Units arrived at the scene to find the victim who reported being attacked during the incident where two vehicles, occupied by several males, boxed-in the victim's car then swiftly exit wearing masks and armed with handguns.
The men reportedly ordered the victim from the vehicle then began to strike the victim with guns violently.
According to authorities, the suspects took the victim's gray 4-door 2013 Hyundai Sonata and sped away from the scene. The vehicle has a reported NJ license plate number "X94-FRW".
The victim did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
Police are actively searching for the suspects.
