There were non-life threatening injuries reported in an early morning multi-vehicle crash that occurred on NJ-21 in Newark.
Emergency responders and rescue crews were called to the northbound lanes of the highway near Chester Avenue before 3:15 a.m. after they received reports of a crash with injuries.
Upon their arrival, they observed about three vehicles involved in a crash which caused them to temporarily reroute all northbound traffic at 3rd Avenue.
EMS transported the injured to an area hospital while police investigated the cause of the crash.
The highway has reopened.
