Newark Police officials are reporting the arrest of Mr. Assamad F. Banks, 21, of Newark, for an armed robbery that occurred on Monday, September 11th.
According to police at approximately 11:50 p.m., police responded to the 900-block of Frelinghuysen Avenue on a robbery call.
A woman was robbed at gunpoint by three black males.
Detectives investigating the robbery developed sufficient evidence to identify Assamad F. Banks as a suspect in this incident.
Police arrested Banks was today without incident and charged him with Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
These charges are merely accusations.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
This investigation is ongoing as additional suspects remain at large.
