Firefighters made fast work out of a fire that ignited a house in the city's South Ward early this morning.
The fast-moving fire ignited inside a vacant two-story newly constructed residence at Fabyan and Nye Avenue shortly before 4:30 a.m. where first arriving firefighters found heavy fire blowing out the side of a second-floor window according to officials.
Crews made entry into the residence where they were able to knock the blaze down in less than an hour.
A search of the house had no trapped or injured occupants.
The cause is under investigation by Newark Fire officials.
