The man accused of shooting a 34-year-old man last night is in custody, police confirmed today.
According to police, sometime around 5:30 p.m. officers responded to the area of Union Street near Bergen Avenue for a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, police found the 34-year-old victim who was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.
Rashad Lewis was arrested shortly after the shooting. Police recovered a loaded .38 handgun with three spent shell casings.
Lewis reportedly confessed to the shooting following his arrest. He was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and weapons offenses.
