Officers charged two men with weapons and drug charges after recovering two guns and drugs in separate arrests, police said.
According to police, on September 10th, detectives arrested Terrance Carter, 29, of Newark, after he was observed in narcotics transactions in the area of Weequahic Avenue and Clinton Place.
Police found Carter in possession of a loaded .357 Magnum handgun, 14 ziplock bags of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Police charged Carter with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Certain Persons Prohibited from Weapon Possession, Resisting Arrest, Conspiracy, CDS Possession, CDS Distribution and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Najee Paschall, 19, of Newark, was arrested on September 7th, on the 200-block of Warren Street, after he attempted to flee when patrolling officers approached him and a group of people congregating on the sidewalk.
According to police, as Paschall fled he dropped a loaded .38 caliber handgun.
Police immediately arrested arrested Paschall and charged with Unlawful Possession of weapon and Obstructing the Administration of the Law.
Police also arrested other individuals around the city for CDS Possession, CDS Distribution, Contempt of Court on outstanding warrants or Wandering to Purchase CDS as part of this operation.
These charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
