A police involved shooting that occurred this morning in Newark is under investigation.
According to preliminary reports, police received reports of a stray dog in the vicinity of the 200 block of West Market Street at around 9:40 a.m. where officers arrived and were met by a vicious charging pit bull.
At least one officer reportedly fired his weapon striking the dog.
A crime scene was established, and an investigation is underway.
There were no injuries reported to officers.
