The New Jersey State Police has arrested Renee Shanafelt for allegedly defrauding more than 25 victims of their property and breaching contracts worth more than $32,000.
In January, detectives began investigating allegations of unlawful business practices and theft by Shanafelt, owner of the Diamondback Trading Post in Southampton.
At the time, several victims had come forth alleging that Shanafelt breached her contracts after goods were exchanged.
In March, the store closed as the investigation continued, and detectives allege that Shanafelt failed to make payments to victims.
Police on May 4th, asked the public to contact Red Lion Station detectives if they had been a victim of breached contracts with Shanafelt.
After the social media post, detectives received more than a 100 calls from victims alleging that Shanafelt had breached her contracts and failed to make payments.
Tuesday after a eight-month investigation, detectives arrested Renee Shanafelt and charged her with 23 counts of theft by failure to make required disposition of property received.
Police released Shanafelt pending a court date.
Charges are mere accusations and the suspect is considered innocent until proven guilty.
