Firefighters swiftly knocked down a small blaze that ignited after a vehicle struck a building in a Maplewood neighborhood then sped away from the scene.
The incident happened in the 1700 block of Springfield Avenue sending emergency responders and rescue crews to the scene at around 10 p.m. where they found a severely damaged parked vehicle wedged inside a garage when a car slammed into the building causing fire to ignite inside the walls of the structure.
There were no injuries reported. A portion of the garage began to collapse.
Maplewood Police are continuing to investigate.
