Former Edison Officer Charged with Witness Tampering, Conspiracy

Edison

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey said that a former police officer was arrested today and charged with witness tampering and conspiracy in connection with a case that is pending against him in Superior Court.

Michael A. Dotro, 40, of Manalapan forfeited his position as an Edison patrolman in September 2016 as part of a guilty plea in another case. He is now charged with witness tampering in the third degree and conspiracy to commit witness tampering in the third degree.

He is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center and is expected to have his initial court appearance on Friday, August 18th before Superior Court Judge Gary Price.

Dotro is charged during an investigation by Detective Christopher Pennisi of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

During the investigation, it was determined that Dotro conspired with another to intimidate a witness expected to testify at trial.

The investigation is active and is continuing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Christopher Pennisi of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-3300.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Dotro are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
