Authorities in Plainfield are investigating an overnight stabbing that sent at least one person to the hospital while you slept.
According to preliminary reports, violence broke out inside a residence in the 600 block of West 8th Street, at around midnight, sending emergency responders to the scene where they found a male victim suffering multiple stab injuries at that location.
EMS transported the victim to an area hospital where the victim is being treated for his injuries.
The incident was the result of a physical altercation that escalated into the violent stabbing when a suspect began to attack with a sharp object reports said.
There were no confirmed reports of any other injured victims as of 5:22 am Sunday.
Police have confirmed non-life threatening injuries as the incident remains under investigation.
