Authorities announce the arrest of a 25-year-old Paterson man found in possession of a weapon.
According to police, on August 10, 2017, sometime around 4:57 a.m., officers were patrolling the area of 12th Avenue and E 23rd Street where they encountered a group of 4-5 males congregating in the area.
As the officers approached the group, they observed one of the males attempt to flee the area while holding onto his waistband and looking back at the officers.
The man - later identified as Shaquan Capron - ensued a foot pursuit to the rear of 323 12th Avenue were reportedly removed a silver object and threw it over a wall at that location.
The officers ultimately tackled and restrained Capron who was taken into custody.
The officers canvassed the area and recovered the silver object, a loaded Taurus 9MM handgun with (12) rounds.
Capron was transported to police headquarters, processed and charged with Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose, Possession of a Weapon by Certain Persons not to be in Possession of a Firearm, and Resisting Arrest by Force.
