Newark Citizen Complaints Lead to Seizure of Over $8K in Narcotics

Complaints from Newark residents lead to the seizure of more than $8,000 in drugs and the arrests of five suspects.

Police said the operation, stemming from citizen complaints, resulted in police confiscating $2,193.80 in proceeds from drug sales this week. Narcotice confiscated have a street value of about $8270.00.

The first arrests took place on August 1st just before midnight where 19-year-old Shaheed Clark and his 20-year-old co-defendant, Mr. Zaire Dickerson, were in the area of Madison Avenue and S. 15th Street when officers observed Dickerson in possession of a gun.

Authorities said officers arrested both suspects and charged them with possession of a weapon and multiple other weapons and drug-related offenses.

Police said on August 2nd, they executed a search warrant on a vehicle belonging to Mr. Bryan Onley, 33, where they recovered drugs and a handgun.

A warrant has been issued for Mr. Onley’s arrest.

Police arrested Mr. Dawan Walker, 20 and Jonathan Moya, 23, on August 6, 2017, four possession of hanguns after officers conducted a motor vehicle stop near Clinton Avenue and Stratford Place.

Officers recovered two guns and drugs.

Both were arrested and charged with possession of a weapon and multiple other drug-related offense.

These are mere allegations lodged against the suspects. They are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
