Police have released additional details of the break in at Union High where approximately $26,000 was stolen.
According to police, detectives responded to the high school on June 29, sometime around 10 a.m., after an employee found her desk damaged. The school's secretary told police that a large amount of cash ($26,000) - fees collected at the conclusion of the year - locked in one of the desks that was burglarized.
An investigation ensued. Police reviewed the school’s surveillance which showed individuals breaking into the school at approximately 1:30 a.m. The suspects - reportedly eight adults and one juvenile - wandered around the school until they gained entry to the main office where they pried open the desk drawers.
Police were able to identify several of the suspects, and vehicle used which ultimately led to the arrest of the alleged driver and one the men involved.
Authorities are still waiting for approvals on charges against the remaining suspects.
In addition to the theft of approximately $26,000, suspects also made off with a school iPad and other school property.
