Elizabeth Lost Dog Safely Reconnected With Owner

Elizabeth

A lost dog that was being cared for by a Elizabeth resident since early this morning, has made it  back home to it's owners this evening.

The woman, (who did not want to release her identity) found the dog this morning wandering around Mattano Park near Loomis Street when she brought the dog to the driveway of her house to feed and care for it until the owner could be found.

The woman contacted us shortly after 9 a.m. requesting that a memo go out on our community alert post in an attempt to find the owner of what she described as a "very sweet dog". A post was put up on our Facebook Metro Breaking News site where dozens of followers offered advice for the woman and well wishes for the dog.

According to the caretaker, It was a little after 7 p.m. when she  decided to give the dog a bath before heading in for the night. The woman said,  shortly after bathing the dog, several children and their dad were walking in the area, recognized the dog and  lead it and the caretaker to it's owner which was about six blocks away.

The dog, who was later identified as Reno, a 10-year-old mixed Shepard  that was brought to this country from Poland, became very excited to see it's owner according to the caretaker. The owner demanded that the caretaker accept a cash reward but the offer was refused.

"I was just getting ready to keep the dog over the weekend, or at least until someone identified it" the caretaker said.

The dog somehow broke free from the yard and wasn't  familar with getting back home according to the caretaker.  " He was very friendly, obedient, and loved to eat snacks. I am so happy he made it back home",  the caretaker added.
