Police in Newark are on the search for several males suspects wanted for an overnight armed robbery turned assault of a couple in the city's Ironbound section overnight.
An armed robbery in progress call sent officers to the 80's block of Napoleon Street before 3 a.m.
Arriving units were met by a male and female couple who reported to them that shortly before officers arrived, as many as three black males approached wearing masks and armed with at least one gun demanding person possessions according to preliminary reports.
While the victims were attempting to hand over items, the suspects reportedly began to attack the pair reports said.
The suspects fled eastbound on New York Avenue in a dark colored vehicle.
The victim's injuries were non-life threatening.
