A violent armed robbery that occurred at a gas station in Summit has authorities investigating.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the Shell Gas Station that's located in the single digit block of River Road at around 11 p.m. for a report of a robbery with injuries.
Officers arriving at the scene spoke to the gas station attendant who told them a male approached him and demanded money from the register. When the attendant turned around to open the register the suspect reportedly struck him twice in the head with a large wrench.
The suspect is described as a black male around the age of 25-30. The suspect took cash and a cell phone from the victim.
EMS transported the victim to Morristown Hospital for treatment.
The Summit Police Department is handling the investigation.
