Three Arrested in Takedown of Drug Trafficking Organization in South Jersey

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Suburban Narcotics Task Force and Cherry Hill Police Department Special Investigations Unit, in coordination with the Gloucester Township Police Department, Camden County Metro Police Department and Camden County Sheriff’s Department announced three suspects have been arrested and charged in connection with a large-scale drug trafficking organization distributing cocaine and heroin throughout Southern New Jersey.

Alejandro Santiago, Jr, 29, of Camden, Joseph Lee, 42, and Lakia Plummer, 35, both of Gloucester Township, were arrested Wednesday for heroin and cocaine distribution facilities being operated in the La Cascata section of Gloucester Township and the Whitman Park section of Camden.

Detectives arrested all three suspects following a one month, multi-agency investigation and subsequently executed search warrants at a residence on the 1400 Block of Mount Ephraim Avenue, a residence in the La Cascata section of Gloucester Township, and two vehicles.   Detectives seized approximately one kilogram of heroin, 750 grams of cocaine, two handguns, over $10,000 United States Currency and two vehicles. 

The street value of the narcotics seized is valued at $500,000.

Alejandro Santiago, Jr. was charged with Possession of CDS, Possession of CDS With Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Firearm During a CDS Offense, and Operating a CDS Distribution Facility.  Lee and Plummer were charged with Possession of CDS, Possession of CDS With Intent to Distribute, and Operating a CDS Production Facility.  The three defendants were remanded to the Camden County Jail.

All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
