Police in Hillside took two suspects in custody and charged them with narcotics sales in the city.
According to authorities, on June 19, 2017 at approximately 1:00 pm, Hillside Police Headquarters received a 911 call from an anonymous caller, stating two individuals were selling narcotics in the area of Clinton Place and Compton Avenue.
First responding officers arrived and observed two males walking away from the area.
Officers immediately exited their vehicle and approached the individuals according to reports.
Other officers arrived to back the officers up and detained the suspects reports said.
Police later identified the individuals as 25-year-old Mr. Tyree Thomas of Irvington and 25-year-old Mr. Demitre Conover of Hillside, who told officers that they were just "hanging out."
The officers observed a partially open book bag hanging on the fence behind them and could see what appeared to be packaged drugs.
Further investigation revealed nine "bricks" containing 492 wax paper fold of heroin.
Police said they also recovered approximately $1700 in cash.
Both individuals were charged with Possession of CDS, Distribution of CDS and Distribution of CDS on/near School Property.
The incident remains under investigation.
These are mere accusations lodged against the suspects.
They are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
