Hillside authorities are offering an award for information leading to an arrest and indictment after police say shots were fired between two vehicles in Hillside.
Last night, slightly past midnight, Hillside police K-9 officer, Michael Flowers, observed two cars, a blue Audi and a gray Hyundai, traveling south on Liberty Avenue from Oakland Avenue. The driver of the Audi was attempting to force the Hyundai off the road while at least one occupant of the Audi was firing shots at the Hyundai.
At the intersection of Liberty Avenue and Hillside Avenue, the driver of the Hyundai made a U-turn, and one of its passengers jumped out and fled north on Liberty Avenue towards Newark. Officer Flowers pursued the Audi but lost the vehicle in Newark.
The incident is under full investigation by the Hillside police detective bureau. There appears to be no connection between this incident and Hillside other than the dispute traveled here.
There is no continued danger to the residents of Hillside.
