Newark Man Charged with Illegal Dumping

Authorities announced the arrest of **Jamal Walton-Muhammad, 43,**of Newark, for an incident of illegal dumping that occurred on June 15, 2017.

According to police, at approximately 2 p.m., members of the Illegal Dumping Task Force responded to a report of illegal dumping at Rose Street and Jelliff Avenue.

Officers observed several large bags of furniture packing, wrapping, and Styrofoam trash at the location.

Members of the Illegal Dumping Task Force developed sufficient evidence to identify **Jamal Walton-Muhammad**, a truck driver of The Best Deal Discount Furniture, located at 63 Market Street, Newark, as a suspect in this incident.

Police arrested Mr. Walton-Muhammad yesterday (Monday) without incident and charged him with Illegal Dumping and Illegal Transport of Solid Waste. The Best Deal Discount Furniture’s truck, used to carry the dumped materials, is subject to seizure by forfeiture authorities said.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
