Police in Newark are investigating a reported armed robbery that occurred in Newark's South Ward overnight.
Officers were called to the 1000 block of Hunterdon Street before 4 a.m. where upon their arrival, they located the victim who told police that armed men approached and demanded cash and personal possessions.
The suspects reportedly began to physically attack the victim then fire at least one shot in the direction of the victim before they fled the scene according to reports.
EMS were called in for the victim who suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The identity of the suspects have not been released at this time.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
