Georgia Man Sentenced to 60 Years for Murdering Irvington Go-Go Dancer

Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today that Johnny Bernard Jones, 3rd, was sentenced to 60 years in New Jersey State Prison by the Honorable Michael Ravin, Judge of the Superior Court, for the murder of Denise Ramsey, a 33-year-old go-go dancer from Irvington.

Assistant Prosecutor Naazneen Khan, tried the case with Assistant Prosecutor Jason Alterbaum.

In February an Essex County jury found Jones, 33, of Jonesboro, Georgia, guilty of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose for the stabbing death of Ramsey, who went missing in December 2011 after leaving the Dollhouse, a go-go bar in Irvington.

Her body was discovered in a vacant lot in East Orange under a mattress on Jan. 25, 2012 after her sister had reported her missing.

The case was investigated by Sergeants Thomas McEnroe of the New Jersey State Police and Peter Cassidy of the Orange Police Department.
