A 20-year-old man wanted in connection with a Newark shooting was arrested over the weekend.
Authorities announced the arrest of Samid Strothers, 20, of Newark, for a shooting that occurred on Wednesday, April 19, 2017.
According to police, at approximately 9 p.m., a 33-year-old male victim was shot at Vassar and Maple avenues.
Police said the victim arrived at Newark Beth Israel Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and was released.
Detectives developed evidence that Samid Strothers is a suspect in this shooting and issued a warrant for his arrest.
Officers patrolling the area of Chancellor and Maple avenues on Saturday, recognized Strothers from a wanted flyer shortly before placing him under arrest.
Strothers is charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault Upon a Law Enforcement Officer, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Conspiracy.
The charges are mere accusations.
Mr. Strothers is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The investigation is continuing. A second suspect remains at large.
