A Bloomfield man was critically injured after he was struck by a vehicle on the Garden State Parkwa NJ State Police said.
Emergency responders were called to mile marker 153 shortly before 2 a.m. for a report of a crash.
Upon arrival, EMS crews found a Bloomfield man suffering serious injuries.
Based on preliminary reports, the pedestrian was reportedly walking in the southbound right lane near mile marker 153, when a Honda struck him.
Authorities said the driver of the Honda attempted to swerve away but struck a Toyota.
According to police, neither the drivers of the Toyota or Honda were injured.
The pedestrian was transported to the hospital where he remains in critical condition.
It is not immediately clear why the man was walking on the highway.
The incident remains under investigation.
