A Mercer County grand jury returned an indictment yesterday charging a Trenton woman with stabbing her boyfriend to death earlier this year.
Briann Lindsey, 25, of Clearfield Avenue, was indicted on one count of first-degree murder, one count of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and one count of fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon. She remains in custody.
According to police, at approximately 4:15 p.m. on March 6, 2017, Trenton police responded to a 911 call for a man stabbed in the 300 block of Clearfield Avenue.
Officers arrived and found the victim inside of the apartment along with his girlfriend, Lindsey.
Trenton EMS arrived on the scene, however, the victim, identified as 35-year-old Christopher Johnson of South Brunswick, was pronounced dead a short time later.
An investigation revealed that Johnson was stabbed in the kitchen area of the residence and collapsed in the hallway. The investigation also revealed that Lindsey attempted to clean up the crime scene prior to police arrival.
The charges are a result of an investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force, specifically Detective Jessica Senese of the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office. Assistant Prosecutor Stacey Geurds presented the case to the grand jury.
Despite having been indicted, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
