A driver of a vehicle was transported to the hospital after she reportedly crashed into a sign, flipping her car upside down Wednesday evening.
Police were dispatched to the area of West Jersey Street sometime around 9:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a flipped over vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers met with the driver of the flipped vehicle (vehicle 1), who stated she was driving Westbound on West Jersey Street when she came across a pothole.
The woman said she remembers trying to avoid it but doesn't recall what happened afterwards.
She was treated by EMS on scene and then transported to University Hospital.
Further investigations revealed, that according to the driver of (vehicle 2), he was driving westbound on West Jersey Street when he heard a loud banging noise and saw a vehicle to his right hand side flip over on top of his vehicle.
A second witness told police that as she was driving behind vehicle 2, vehicle 1 illegally passed her then tried to pass vehicle 2 on the right hand side causing vehicle 1 to go onto the sidewalk and hit a bus stop sign which ultimately caused her vehicle to flip over.
As a result of the investigation, the driver of vehicle 1 was issued a summons for reckless driving.
The incident remains under investigation.
