Police in Newark are reporting that officers in the city's 2nd Precinct responded to the McDonald’s on West Market and 2nd streets after receiving reports of an unattended child in the parking lot yesterday (Tuesday).
According to police, at approximately 5:03 p.m., officers located the child, who EMS transported to University Hospital for a medical evaluation.
Police said the child suffered no injuries.
Officers located the child’s guardian, the grandmother, who indicated that she was unaware that the child had left the residence.
Authorities notified Child Protection and Permanency and police will continue to investigate this incident.
