Paterson Woman Arrested for Sharing Sexually Explicit Photos of her 9-Year-Old Daughter on the Internet

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announced the arrest on Crystal Quiroz, 29 years-old, of Paterson.

According to authorities, police charged Quiroz with one (1) count of First Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, five (5) counts of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child and one (1) count of Third Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child for allegedly taking sexually explicit pictures of her 9-year-old daughter and distributing them over the internet.

Authorities said Quiroz’s arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office - Special Victims Unit.

On May 9, the Honorable Justine A. Niccolai, J.S.C., granted the State’s Motion for Pre-Trial Detention against Quiroz and ordered that she remain detained until trial or disposition of the case.

First Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child carries a maximum term of twenty (20) years in New Jersey State Prison with 85% of the sentence is served before parole.

Authorities said Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child carries a maximum term of ten (10) years in New Jersey State Prison and Third Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child carries a maximum term of five (5) years in New Jersey State Prison. If convicted, each of these crimes requires the imposition of Megan’s Law and Parole Supervision for Life.

A criminal complaint is merely an accusation.

Despite this charge, Quiroz is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
