The suspect is wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 28-year-old Elizabeth resident Michael Eargle.
Elizabeth Police Department patrol units responding to a report of shots being fired on the 1800 block of Lafayette Street found Eargle at that location shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, and he was pronounced dead at the scene a short while later.
The shooting remains under active joint investigation by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force, Elizabeth Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit. The person depicted in the video was wearing a distinctive piece of clothing: a vintage, Starter brand University of North Carolina hockey jersey.
