Police Swiftly Nab Plainfield Shooting Suspects

Plainfield Police Patrol Units responded to the area of 300 block of Liberty Street on a report of shots fired at around 13:30 p.m.

According to authoritites, officers on foot within the area were able to quickly identify the suspect vehicle that fled the scene.

Responding Officers immediately located the intended target, Kenneth McCoy, 24, from Plainfield with a non-life threatening gunshot injury.

Police said Mr. McCoy was transported by EMS to an area hospital for treatment.

Within minutes of the shooting, a Patrol Unit located the suspect's vehicle traveling southbond on Clinton Avenue police said.

The vehicle was stopped with the help of additional Police Units.

The driver Cornelius Chinemere, 28, of Plainfield and passenger Roland Offley, 25, also of Plainfield, were both detained and taken into custody.

Police said detectives recovered the suspected gun involved.

Both Chinemere and Offley were charged with Aggravated Assault and Weapons Offenses.
