A Long Branch man was sentenced today to 72 months in prison for using his computer to possess and distribute images of child sexual abuse via a peer-to-peer file-sharing network, Acting U.S. Attorney William E. Fitzpatrick announced.
Donald Haring, 62, previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Freda L. Wolfson to an information charging him with possession and distribution of Explicit Images of Minors. Judge Wolfson imposed the sentence today in Trenton federal court.
According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court:
Haring admitted that he knowingly used a computer from his home to share images and videos of child sexual abuse with other members of a publicly-available, peer-to-peer file-sharing network. Haring also admitted to possessing at least three videos and 600 images of child sexual abuse on his computer and other electronic devices.
In addition to the prison term, Judge Wolfson sentenced Haring to five years of supervised release.
