Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Paterson Shooting

Police arrested a 19-year-old man who they said fatally shot another man Saturday.

According to authorities, police responded Saturday to the area of Montgomery and Straight Streets in Paterson, for a report of a shooting.

An investigation into the shooting resulted in the arrest of 19-year-old Tamaj Lemmon, yesterday at approximately 6:30 p.m. without incident.

Lemmon was charged with the murder of Vishon Randolph, 19 and the attempted murder of Zimere Kellom, 20.

In addition, Lemmon was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Paterson police detectives along with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office are continuing this investigation and are asking for any person with any information to please contact Lt. Daniel Rooney, Det. Jason English, Det. Mary Martinez, Det. Benny Ramos, along with Det. Angel Perales of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office (PCPO) at the Paterson Police Detective Bureau 973-321-1120.

UPDATE 3:30pm Paterson, NJ – On April 25, 2017 at on or about 9:05am Detectives Ed Lugo, Ralph Gonzalez, and Joseph Thomas, of the Paterson Police Warrant Squad arrested and charged Zaheem Beal ,21, at his home without incident.

Zaheem Beal was charged with the February 4, 2017 Murder of Kasir Davis (16) and the Attempted Murder of a second juvenile victim (name not disclosed) at 87 Auburn Street.

Police charged Beal of Anne Street, Paterson with the following: 1 count of Murder,

1 count of Attempted Murder, 2 counts of Robbery 2 counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, 2 counts of Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

"The quick response and the arrest by the men and women involved in this investigation is indicative of their tireless efforts and dedication to the community in making a safer city" Director Speziale said.
