Police in Newark announced the arrest of a teenage boy for an aggravated assault shooting that occurred on Sunday, April 9th in the city.
According to Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, at approximately 11:55 a.m., patrol officers heard gunshots in the area of Irvine Turner Boulevard and Court Street.
Director Ambrose said four males, including a 16-year old, were found inside a silver 2006 Nissan Maxima at the scene, with one of the boys injured, but not shot upon officers arrival.
Detectives developed evidence that a 16-year old male, who was inside the vehicle, is a suspect in this shooting.
Police arrested the teen yesterday (Wednesday) and charged him with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
These charges are merely accusations.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
