A fatal car crash in East Orange claimed the life of a teacher's aide and avid member of a motorcycle club according to family members.
Friends and family held a candlelight vigil this evening to remember 31-year-old Camilla Forde at the scene of the fatal crash located at South Grove and Main Street. Forde's father, Beresford Forde, said the crash occured around 1AM when Camilia was travelling south on Grove St. in a red 2007 Magna when the vehicle struck a concrete beam that supports the New Jersey Transit train overpass. Beresford Forde said Camillia suffered massive head trauma and was taken to University Hospital where she later died of her injuries.
Family and friends attending the vigil shared stories of times shared with Camillia including the president of "Frontline Soldiers Mc" who goes by the name "Pete", said "feeding veterans and community service is what our group does well and Camille was one of the leaders of the group when it came time to do community service". "She was a member, one of the longest prospects we had." "Camille was a good person and I will miss her " Pete said.
Forde worked as an assistant teacher for students with special need in East Orange at the Benjamin Banneker School according to her father. She leaves behind a young son.
One other vehicle was involved in the crash where the driver suffered minor injuries according to Forde's father.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by East Orange Police.
